Architectural competition in Estonia
The best wooden building 2005
This competition takes place every year since 2003. Estonian Forest Industries Association
is organising this event. The jury members were :
Veljo Kaasik : architect
Toomas Aakre - construction engineer
Urmas Elmik - architect
Andres Kurg - architect and architectural historian
Tarmo Lige - managing Director of Estonian Association of Construction Entrepreneurs
Märt Riistop - Deputy Managing Director of Estonian Forest Industries Association
The jury nominates winners in 5 category :
1. The best wooden house 2005
2. Also outstanding buidings
3. Special prize for useage of gluewood
4. Special prize for useage of plywood
5. Special prize for useage of planed timber
This Architectural competition is for everyone who wants to nominate his/her wooden buildings in Estonia. This year the jury had to choose from 40 buildings. Every year it is getting more difficult to choose the best building but also it shows that wooden houses are getting more popular in Estonia and purchasers think more about the environment.
Winners :
1.The best wooden house 2005
This is a kindergarten called Naba which means bellybutton.

2.Also outstanding buildings
This is a manufacture building of Ltd Palmako.



This is a apartment building.


3.Special prize for useage of gluewood
This is a pavilion for cars.



4.Special prize for useage of plywood
The building of the city government

5.Special prize for useage of the planed timber
This is the Estonian Golf and Country Club
